These are the things that scared me mostly while watching these horror movies. We all know there are some horror movies which you are not sure why they are called that way. There is almost nothing to scare you. But these were “no sleep” movies. Even when I am just looking at these photos i feel chill down my spine. No matter if you believe in ghosts or not, these were the movies which left everyone with unpleasant feeling.

1. Ghosts Do Not Go AWOL
In 1924 two crewmen of the S.S. Watertown were accidentally killed, when they inhaled dangerous gases while cleaning out the ships cargo tank. Their was no where to store the bodies and the ship would not be reaching land for several more days, so the captain ordered that the bodies were to be thrown overboard. Over the next several days every member of the crew including the captain saw the faces of the deceased men peering up at them from the water. When the ship docked in New Orleans the captain of the S.S. Watertown decided to purchase a camera. The ship eventually went back out to sea and the same bizarre ghostly faces began appearing in the water again. This time the captain got a picture of it.
2. A Graveyard is No Place For A Child, Ghost or Not
A woman was visiting her daughter’s grave that had died tragically at the age of 17. She decided to take a few pictures of her daughter’s headstone. Upon getting her pictures develop the woman was shocked to discover a gleeful toddler sitting on top of her daughter’s grave. The woman did not recognize the child and did not see any children in the cemetery the day the picture was taken.
3. Ghost in the Church Loft
Photographer Chris Brackley was awe struck by the beauty of the interior of London’s St. Botolph’s Chruch. He set up his camera and took several pictures of the church. Upon examining his photos he made a very interesting discovery. In the upper-right corner of the photo there appears to be the ghostly apparition of a woman. Brackley claims that there were only three people in the church when he snapped this now infamous photo and none of them were in the loft.

4. Minister’s Ghost
This photo was taken in 1999 at Sefton Church in Merseyside, England, and was taken by a photographer who was fascinated by the ancient structure. The photographer says that there was no one standing there when he took the photograph and theorizes that due to the phantom’s attire that it is the apparition of one of the church’s ministers back from the dead.
5. A Photogenic Ghost
This photo made the rounds on the Internet through email chain letters and has thus become one of the most famous ghost pictures in existence. It seems to be a realistic ghost picture as it is subtler than most photoshopped forgeries. There are no real credible sources to get the story behind the photo from, but going on the background and apparent ethnic origin of the girls many have assumed that they are in Manilla, Republic of the Philippines. My first thought is that this is a fake photo created in Adobe Photoshop, but I have the tendency to say that about all contemporary ghost pictures.
6. Ghosts Like Toys Too
This image was caught in 1984 during a paranormal investigation of a Toys R Us store in Sunnyvale, California. It is said that infrared and normal pictures were taken during a séance and when the film was developed the infrared photos showed the image of a man who was not present in the normal photo. The man also appears to be wearing clothing that was out of place for that time period. It is claimed that paranormal activity sill plaques this Toys R Us location to this day.
7. St. Mary’s Ghost
Many churchgoers who attended church at The Church of St. Mary the virgin in Northampton, England claimed that a ghostly figure would appear during service and would start praying, and in 1964 photographic evidence of this restless spirit’s existence was captured. Photographer Gordon Carrol snapped this photo in an attempt to capture the Church’s beauty but upon developing his picture discovered he had capture what appeared to be a ghost.
8. Grandma and Ghostly Grandpa
This famous ghost photo is often seen on the Internet and through emails accompanied with this quotation:
“The lady in the color photo is my granny. She lived on her own until age 94, when her mind started to weaken and had to be moved to an assisted living home for her own safety. At the end of the first week, there was a picnic for the residents and their families. My mother and sister attended. My sister took two pictures that day, and this is one of them. It was taken on Sunday, 8/17/97, and we think the man behind her is my grandpa who passed away on Sunday, 8/14/84. We did not notice the man in the picture until Christmas Day, 2000 (granny had since passed away), while browsing through some loose family photos at my parents’ house. My sister thought it was such a nice picture of granny that she even made a copy for mom, but still, nobody noticed the man behind her for over three years! When I arrived at my parents’ house that Christmas day, my sister handed me the picture and said, “Who do you think this man behind granny looks like?” It took a few seconds for it to sink in. I was absolutely speechless. The black and white photos show that it really looks like him.”

9. A Permanent Guest
It only seems fitting that this unsettling photo would come from what is arguably the paranormal capital of the world, Romania. This photo soared to fame after it was published in a Romanian newspaper and republished countless times after. The photo was taken in a 150-year-old hotel named the Decabal Hotel. A guest who was staying there by the name of Victoria Iovan took the incredible picture. The hotel is the source of a very old legend. The legend says that long ago a Roman treasure was hidden where the hotel now stands and the ghost appears when someone ventures too close to its location.
10. Girl on the Tracks
Nearly every town has a similar legend: A long time ago a school bus got stuck on a railroad track and a train plows into the bus killing the children inside the bus. Today, if you pull up to the track and turn off your car, the ghosts of the children will push your car uphill across the tracks. San Antonio, Texas is no different as they have a legend just like the one I described that is centered on a set of mundane railroad tracks. The difference between this legend and the others though is that there may be photographic proof of Texas’ haunted railroad. A family who went to the track to test the legend took the above photo. The inexplicable, ghostly figure of a young girl is clearly present in the picture.
I want to stress that I am not presenting these photos as absolute fact. I am merely presenting them and the supposed true stories that accompany these spine-tingling photographs to you for entertainment value. Whether or not these photos are definitive proof of an afterlife is absolutely debatable and up to you to decide.

burial ceremonies and rites
There are 3 most important ceremonies and rituals related to 3 most important parts of someones life. The first is of course the birth, second is when you are getting married and death. All of these are important because you are making some kind of crossing over. First is more than obvious, you are starting your life. Second is the moment when you are crossing from childhood into adult period of your life and the last one is a terminate one, or maybe not so terminate as more as a crossing over. In many cultures there is a belief in life after death.
Not in all civilizations the cult of dead is seen in the same way. Even though in many traditions you will find that death is not a terminal thing and it just represents a crossing into another way of life? and in some cases in another form of living. Not sure if I can say living here, but anyhow, the crossing over is never simple and some rites must be performed to ensure the safe crossing over. From the rites as placing coins on the decedent’s eyelids, so the deceased could pay his crossing to the other side. (example: Greek mythology, crossing over river Styx), etc.
And above all, the rites are also performed because no one wants a vengeful spirit to hunt you over. In Mongolia it is known that lamas put blue stones with the body to prevent the spirit to come back. In some cultures no animals are allowed to enter in the room where the dead body is, because it is believed that the spirit can enter into the animal and from there can travel anywhere. Also after taking the body to the place where it should be buried, everything must be cleaned and all the garbage should be thrown through the window, it must be somehow related to cleaning the space of that death related atmosphere.
In Serbian mythology for the first time we find a therm, you all know, “vampire”. This is probably the only word from this language used in all other languages. Contrary to believing that vampires come from Transylvania, this phenomena is first born in this country. Lets see how the cult of dead is related and described in the culture where the vampire is “born”. Vampires are demons related to the cult of ancestors. Vampire is a dead body who “came alive” in the middle of the night and wonders around, and often strangles people and sucks their blood. Not all the bodies can turn into vampires. Only the ones who died in unnatural way or the ones committed suicide, the bodies of the ones who were not grieved enough, the ones who died in dark…etc. Most of the time vampires are correlated with the demonic spirit, but it is also known that vampires tend to help their families. To prevent someone of becoming a vampire, there are some rites which are to be done. An egg should be broken on the place where the body was lying or on the place where the dead man head was an iron nail should be nailed and an olive or silver coin should be put under the decedent’s tongue. After all this the grave should be rimmed with sand while magical words are said: “When you count all this sand, than you can rise from dead”. If a vampire anyhow comes back from the dead, the grave is found with a completely black horse. Where he stops, the dead body is dig out and stabbed with wooden stake and than it is burned.
Burning the dead body was a practice for a long time. With the Christianization the burying of the body in the ground became a “trend”. You will still find this is India and some other countries like Bali, etc. This was noticed in Indian culture, too. This was also something what Vikings did. Since they were known as the men of the sea, dead bodies were placed into the boat and burned, leaving the boat to burning and floating on the water. All that fire never brings any good. It is known for many years that a woman was sacrificed with burning alive along with personal belongings and her late husbands dead body. Specially if some great warrior or a noble man dies, the woman was burned along with him. Vikings, as cruel as they are, they went even further with it. The deceased’s wife was passed from man to man in his tribe, who all made love to her (some would say raped) before strangling her, and placing her next to the body of her man. Thanks to new age this came to an end.
One of the best known burials is Th Sky Burial. In Tibet people are not buried into the ground, but the body is left to be eaten by animals. This sounds bad when I say it like this, but first lets take a look on facts. Tibet, the country surrounded by snowy peaks, and ground too solid for traditional earth interment it sounds practical. But this is not only a practical thing it a cultural thing, too. Buddhists on Tibet perform Jhator. The worthless body provides sustenance to the birds of prey that are the primary consumers of its flesh. To Buddhists, the body is an empty shell, worthless after the spirit has departed. So, before you call someone barbaric you must know all the facts. All of this sounds logical to me. I don’t know why Chinese outlawed the practice after taking control of the country in the 1950s.
There are a lot of different burial ceremonies and rites which are so amazing, because dealing with death and lost is not an easy thing. Never was and never will. Cooping with the fact of being mortal is though. Today even more, when most of the beliefs are gone and the only explanation the science is giving us is that when you are gone there is nothing, people feel a little bit lost. Death will fascinate as well as life. There are no real right rites and right way of burring someone. It all comes to what you are believing to be the right thing. With one notice: Do not kill anyone!
